What do you think The Journey is about?
I believe The Journey captures the chapters in life that resonate with all of us. There are ups and there are downs, but living each one of those chapters is what makes us human.

What was your journey like?
Understanding how to make SBDC fit in my life amidst the challenges of the pandemic - and to make the time for the things that bring me joy - was hard. Everything it took to get here was a struggle... but I guess that's all part of The Journey.

What is it like to be a part of SBDC?
Being a part of SBDC is a dream come true. I've looked up to these women since the first time I saw them dance, and I feel right at home performing alongside them. This company inspires me every day to do my best and to keep trying - no matter what. I have found my dance family and I am so excited to see what we do next, together!

What does The Journey mean to you?
This show means so many different things. It means putting myself first. It means exploring and processing so many different types of emotions and experiences. As a dancer, this show will be one of my most confident performances as it has allowed me to explore and not hold back. I will be performing through my feelings and my very real love for this art form.

Which piece do you most closely connect with?
Acceptance: All though I am not in this piece, it resonates strongly with me. It is a pleasure to watch my fellow dancers embody the love and trust that comes with the acceptance of oneself and each other. The piece has showed me the comfort and strength in accepting yourself for who you are. The uplifting song, the imaginative choreography, and the emotion the piece is performed with, gives me goosebumps every single time.

Which piece do you most closely connect with?
The finale: This piece is the ultimate celebration. It's easy to get stuck in the routine, in the hard days, and in the stress. This piece captures what it's like when we overcome that strife and reminds us what life is all about: enjoying it with those we love.

Which piece do you most closely connect with?
Descent: Although I am not in this piece, I had the pleasure of coaxing it's narrative out of the lyrics. I brought it to the dancers and they breathed their magic into it. It was my first time choreographing such a piece as this one and nothing makes me happier than watching the dancers bring it to life. Without their creativity and technique, it would have missed it's mark - but I knew I could put my trust in these women, and it paid off.

What does The Journey mean to you?
The Journey captures the shared experiences we encounter throughout life. To portray this concept, we have translated these moments into visual images. It brings me much joy to have the opportunity to perform alongside side these amazing women all while sharing our journeys, and, ultimately, this show has marked the beginning of my journey with SBDC.
